Heather Carstairs, left, is one of the strongest women anyone could know. She’s my second mom, and her family is my family. Her daughter is one of my best friends, and I am very close to their family.

As of April of last year Heather was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had a tumor in her brain and her left lung. They caught it pretty early the doctors said so they started radiation and chemotherapy right away. She fights hard and made some good progress. Through out the year, she developed a couple more brain tumors but managed to shrink them down, and also blood clots in her legs. But that didn’t stop her. She continued to fight and go to chemo.

The past week she has been in the hospital. The cancer has spread from her brain, spine, left lung, and adrenals to her other lung as well as her liver. She’s undergoing surgery today and is in the care of the doctors.

She is unbelievably strong, but needs help from all her kids, family, and friends. I love this woman more than words can describe. She’s been there for me through everything and has loved me no matter what stupid decisions I’ve made.

Please send love, positive energy/thoughts, and prayers with me her way.
